About

Michael Samhan

For those interested in a little bit about me and why I started this blog...

While going to school for business management and finance I got into the trading business.  I understand various asset classes like futures, options, and equities.  Options are used on high beta liquid names both long and short trading, holding period is short term (one week to two months; could include underlying) and is where most of my focus is at.  Equity trading is done on an intermediate to long term position basis (typically anywhere from one month to one year) focusing on daily/weekly trends preferably in growth and momentum names.  Any futures trading I do is on an intraday basis.

I started this blog just to look more in depth at charts.  I wanted an extension from my tweets that people could go to and see what I'm about.  Also I enjoy writing about trading/finance because I'm passionate about it.  The education content is the best way of sharing free information and insights into technical analysis and trend following.  Feel free to share or post this site anywhere you like.  Please use the floating bar to 'like' or share.  Let me know if you like how it looks, what you think about the content.  I do hope that the people who need it are taking advantage of this and really putting time behind the concepts because I know it can make a difference in how you view the market.

(By the way, I recommend you use either Firefox, Safari, or Chrome as a browser so that my website displays correctly.. however, most of it should display just fine on Internet Explorer but it's a poor browser.)

Outline:

Recaps - A quick outline of the previous week's price action on the SPY, QQQ, & IWM then  looking at significant stock setups or the watch-list for the next week.  These include mostly just daily charts unless the weekly is a significant part of the setup other than the usual trend I look for.  To follow up on the recaps during the week please use either my stocktwits or twitter profile for regular updates.

Education - Various posts on what I have learned by studying the live markets over the years.  Both strategies and trade plan outline have been posted and I plan on continuing to grow the education section as I go along.

Market Blogs - Anything else that I choose to write about that doesn't pertain to education or a weekly recap.  Just your basic, various financial postings.

You can find these different sections on the right hand side of the site under "Categories" or under "Archives" if you are looking for specific posts.
